Joseph F. (Hofka) Wenger, 77 years old, of Pierpont, Ohio, died on Saturday, October 2, 2004, at Mahoning Valley Hospital, Trumbull Branch. Joseph was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 9, 1927. A lifelong Pierpont resident, Mr. Wenger was a 1945 graduate of Pierpont High School. From a very early age, Mr. Wenger was raised by Stanley and Mary Hofka, where he ran the family dairy farm for most of his life. Along with dairy farming, he raised pigs, beef cattle and grain farmed. He was a member of the Cattle Association, and the Ashtabula Farm Bureau. Mr. Wenger enjoyed hunting and bowling. He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Starcheski) Wenger; his parents, Stanley and Mary Hofka; and a sister, Eleanor Trout. Survivors include: his sister, Virginia Dinger of Akron, OH; two nephews, Jerry Trout and Ronald Dinger; three nieces, Kathleen Trout, Marcene Griffin and Ellen Milhoan; two cousins, with whom was raised, Stanley and William Hofka. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at 1:00p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Pastor Brenda Loucks officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Pierpont.
