Josephine Belle Knapp

Andover, Ohio - Josephine Belle Bryan - Knapp, age 87, died on Friday, May 1, 2015, at her home in Andover, Ohio. She was born on October 12, 1927, in Kinsman, Ohio, a daughter of Lucy Sarah (Bradford) and James Walter Engle. She was a 1945 graduate of Greene High School. On September 5, 1946, she married Paul L. Bryan, who died on December 2, 1964. Later she married Eugene W. Knapp on November 21, 1969, he died on December 2, 1978. Mrs. Knapp worked at the former Andover Industries in Andover for over thirty-one years and retired in 1991. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Knapp was a member of the 55 and over Club, the Andover Retire's Club and spent a lot of time at the Andover Country Neighbor program. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Mrs. Knapp is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a daughter, Sara Jane Anderson; two sisters, Helen Sundy and Edith Swick and two brothers, Charles W. Engle and John W. Engle; and step-son, Jack Knapp. Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl L. (Robert) McGann of Andover, Ohio and Patricia Ann (Keith) Millard of Linesville, Pennsylvania; a son, Terry A. (Cathy) Bryan of Hartsgrove, Ohio; a step-daughter, Denise Hosack of Nashville, Tennessee; four step-sons, Eugene Knapp of Dover, Delaware, Larry Knapp of Sandusky, Ohio, and Garry Knapp of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters, Charlotte J. Braho of Edinburg, Pennsylvania, Leila Hoffman of Vienna, Ohio and Lucille Fortenberry of Savanna, Georgia; a brother, Delbert of Missouri; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many step grandchildren and great granchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Vernon Palo officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Andover, Ohio. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 5th from 11:00am until the time of services.
