Josie V. Hatch

Josie V. Hatch, age 95, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Friday, October 3, 2014, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born August 6, 1919, in Dorset, Ohio, a daughter of Harold F. and Lucy D. (Chidester) Hurst. A lifelong Cherry Valley township resident, Mrs. Hatch was a 1937 graduate of Dorset High School. She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Cherry Valley Mothers Club and the Womens' Society for Christian Service. Mrs. Hatch enjoyed traveling, antiquing, baking, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. She married her husband, George E. Hatch, Jr., on October 19,1937. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1991. She is also preceded by her parents; daughter-in-law, Delores C. Hatch; three brothers, Paul, George, and Frederick Hurst; two sister-in-laws, Irene and Katharina Hurst; and one brother-in-law, Raymond Rausch. Mrs. Hatch is survived by her three sons, Donald E. (Louanna) Hatch of Palm Harbor, Florida, Rev. Dr. Dale R. (Rev. Kay) Hatch of Rising Sun, Ohio, and Glenn A. Hatch of Sanford, North Carolina; 11 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great Grandchildren; one brother, Leo (Mary) Hurst of Akron,Ohio; and two sister-in-laws, Marge Hurst and Bessie Rausch. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:30 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
