Joyce M. Smith

Johnston, Ohio - Joyce M. Smith, age 92, died on Monday, February 25,2008. She was born on February 10, 1916 in York, England, to Thomas and Alice (Wragg) Watson. Mrs. Smith was a 1933 graduate of Mantua High School in Mantua, Ohio. Formerly of Mantua, Ohio, Mrs. Smith was a resident of Johnston for the past forty-five years. She married L. Branson Smith on March 6, 1940 and helped with the family Jersey dairy Farm. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church of Warren, Ohio. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Trumbull County Farm Bureau and the Animal Welfare League. She enjoyed raising registered Old English Sheep dogs. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty seven years, L. Branson Smith; and a daughter Cindy A . DiPaola. Survivors include a daughter, Pamela A. Smith of Johnston, Ohio; and a son, Paul L. Smith of Mantua, Ohio; a granddaughter Tasha Ragalyi; and two dogs, Angel and Fella. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Johnston Federated Church, 6262 State Route 193, Johnston, Ohio. Calling hours will be held one hour prior from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made through the family for the Johnston Fire Department or the Animal Welfare League.
