Kinsman, Ohio - Kathleen E. "Kathie" Martin, age 74, died on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at her home with her husband by her side. She was born on September 20, 1949, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Byron Robert and Rita O. (Westenfelder) White. Kathie was a lifelong resident of Kinsman and was a 1967 graduate of Joseph Badger High School. She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, then graduated from the former Joseph Long Beauty School of Warren, Ohio.
On September 20, 1968, she married the love of her life, Gerald Lee "Jerry" Martin. She was employed by Electronic Data Systems at Packard Electric until 1999. Kathie also worked for three years at Mike Coates Construction in Niles, Ohio. She was an active member of the Kinsman United Methodist Church and later The Kinsman Chapel of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. She loved to read, decorate her home, do counted cross stitch, and go to yard sales and flea markets with her beloved cousin, Mary Fell. Kathie loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their extracurricular events.
She was preceded in death by her father; an infant sister; and her only son, Jason Lauren Martin.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jerry Martin of Kinsman, Ohio; her daughter, Jennifer Leigh (Randy) Jewett of Kinsman, Ohio; three grandchildren, Gage Ivan (Brittney) Sunderland-Jewett of Warren, Ohio, Jason MacLeod Jewett, Claire Sophia Jewett both of Kinsman, Ohio; a great-grandson, Lane of Warren, Ohio; three brothers, Byron Edward (YuYung) White, Rob (Susan) White all of Kinsman, Daniel (Lanette) White of Deland, Florida; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. Her mother passed away the day after Kathie.
Within the last few years, Kathie suffered greatly from rheumatoid arthritis. The family is at peace knowing she is with our Lord and Savior and reunited once again with her son, family, and friends who have gone before her. Per Kathie’s request, no public services will be held. Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service of Kinsman, Ohio, handled the arrangements.
