Kenneth L. Artman

KENNETH L. ARTMAN, age 91, of Champion, Ohio, died Sunday, October 8, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio. He was born October 2, 1915, in Kinsman, Ohio, to Samuel and Exta (Swartz) Artman. A resident of Champion for the past seven years, Mr. Artman was formerly a long time Cherry Valley township resident. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. He owned and operated a sawmill for many years; and later worked for his brother at his pallet shop in Hartsgrove. Mr. Artman was a member of the Cherry Valley Church of the Nazarene since 1946, where he served as treasurer for over thirty years. His hobbies included gardening, farming, and he was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Mr. Artman is survived by his wife, Grace L. (Stohler) Artman, whom he married July 13, 1941, of Champion; his daughter, Lucille (Leonard) Starr of Andover, Ohio; two sons, Rev. K. Lyle (Dee) Artman of Decatur, IL, and Charles (Marilyn) Artman of Warren, OH; two sisters, Gertrude Perry and Geraldine Nelson, both of Florida; one brother, Clifford (Mary) Artman of Rome, OH; 10 Grandchildren; and 20 Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two brothers, George and Perry Artman; and two sisters, Dorothy Arcaro and Mabel Mullen. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH 44003. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 11th from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
