KENNETH RICHARD BAILEY, age 83, of Williamsfield, Ohio, died Thursday, September 27, 2007, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Andover, Ohio. He was born August 15, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Arthur Townsend Bailey and Amy Caroline (Treat) Bailey. A resident of Williamsfield for the past three years, Mr. Bailey was formerly of New Jersey. He was a graduate of South High School in Youngstown, and attended Ohio State University. Mr. Bailey was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and was transferred to The Office of Strategic Services (OSS), which was a predecessor of the CIA. He served in the OSS as a company clerk at camps in Africa, Italy, and France. He worked various clerical jobs, but considered himself a writer. Mr. Bailey wrote several unpublished novels and short stories. Mr. Bailey is preceded in death by his parents; and one older brother, Robert Townsend Bailey. He is survived by his brother, Randal Bailey of San Diego, CA; two nieces, Virginia Rae Bailey of Elkton, MD, and Margaret Ellen Bailey of Indian Hills, CO; and two nephews, Arthur Emery Bailey of Bethel, CT, and James Edward Bailey of Albuquerque, NM. No services have been planned at this time. Arrangements are being handled by Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
