Kenneth G. Knowles

Wayne, Ohio - Kenneth Gordon Knowles, age 81, died on Monday, June 20, 2011, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, Pennsylvania. He was born on April 19, 1930 in Wayne, Ohio, the son of Dorothy Bell (Allen) and Floyd William Knowles. Ken was a 1948 graduate of Williamsfield High School. He owned and operated his family dairy farm with his sons and grandsons. Ken was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Wayne and served in many offices and capacities for as long as he was able. On October 28, 1950 he married Marian A. Biesterveld. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, building ponds, working with his hands and he enjoyed the quiet meditation in the glory of God�s creation. Ken�s quiet example of discipleship to Christ will greatly be missed but long remembered. Ken is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Jean Woodworth; a brother Lawrence Knowles and a grandson Justin Wilkerson. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Marian A. Knowles of Wayne, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara A. (Mark) McNeilly and Amy S. (Nate) Wilkerson both of Wayne, Ohio; three sons, Donald A. (JoAnn) Knowles of Wayne, Ohio, David G. (Shannon) Knowles of Kinsman, Ohio and Keith W. (Deloras) Knowles of Wayne, Ohio; twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery, Wayne, Ohio. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2011 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
