Gustavus, Ohio – Kim H. Stevens, age 59, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Health Center of Youngstown, Ohio. She was born on November 23, 1953 in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of Elva Elizabeth (Hadley) and Lorin J Hopkins. Kim was a 1972 graduate of Lakeview High School and a 1977 graduate of Ohio State Pharmacology School. On May 10, 1986 she married Vernon Lee Stevens. A lifelong area resident Kim worked at the Pharmacy at Kmart in Ashtabula, Ohio and previously worked at Hopkins Pharmacy of Cortland, Ohio. Kim was very active within her church. She was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church where she was currently serving as Chair for the Pastor & Parish Relations Committee, she was serving on the board for Christian Education Leaders, was part of the Gustavus Community Aide, lead the congregation in musical worship with her singing and piano playing and was there for anything the church or her church family needed. She loved to read, play golf, sing, play piano and guitar. She shared her musical talents with the Plymouth Methodist Church and the Jefferson Methodist Church. Kim is preceded in death by her mother and a sister Laurel K. Nicolaus. Survivors include her husband of twenty-seven years, Vernon L. Stevens of Gustavus, Ohio; a daughter, Corey E. Stevens of Akron, Ohio; a son, Clayton C. Stevens of Toledo, Ohio; her father, Lorin J. Hopkins of Cortland, Ohio; a brother, L. Thomas (Michelle) Hopkins of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; a brother-in-law, Thomas Nicolaus of Whittemore, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 11:00am at Gustavus Federated Church, 8850 State Route 193, Gustavus, Ohio, with Rev. Ronald Spore officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio.
