Warren, Ohio - L. Howard Jewell, age 91, died on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Gilletts Nursing Home. He was born on January 5, 1917, in Kinsman, Ohio, the son of Lloyd C. and Edna (Dingman) Jewell. He was a 1936 graduate of Vernon High School. He was a farmer, a salesman for Agrico Fertilizer. He attended auctioneer school in 1955, and Real Estate School in 1956, to obtain his broker license. He opened Jewell Real Estate and Auctioneer in Mount Gilead, Ohio in 1958, and in Mount Vernon, Ohio in 1960. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the Mount Gilead Presbyterian Church, the Gustavus Lodge 442, F & A.M. of Kinsman, Ohio, the Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason and Aladdin Temple Shrine both of Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Jewell is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gordon Jewell. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Dorothy M. Thompson, whom he married on August 24, 1940. Also surviving is a brother, Harold D. Jewell of Warren, Ohio; one niece, Joanne; and three nephews, David, Randy and Bruce; and two great nephews. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, with Rev. Larry A. Myers officiating.
