Lavern O. Loveland

Lavern O. Loveland, 87 years old, of Andover, Ohio, died on Monday, April 11, 2005, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA. Lavern was born on December 8, 1917, in Leon, Ohio, to the late Oscar L. Loveland and the late Mary I. (Johnson) Loveland. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Loveland was a 1935 Andover School graduate. He was employed as a machinist for Brainard Rivet in Girard, Ohio, for several years, and for Locke Machine in Andover for over 21 years, retiring in 1983. Following his retirement, Mr. Loveland was a courier for The Andover Bank and he worked for Maple Grove Cemetery. Mr. Loveland served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Central Europe as a surgical technician and rifleman in the Rhineland Campaign. He received two bronze stars and a victory medal. Mr. Loveland was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover; and he was an avid golfer, playing with the Senior League at the Andover Golf Course, and he enjoyed fishing. Mr. Loveland married Doris I. (Biesterveld) on August 8, 1943. Preceding him in death are his parents and two brothers, Herbert and Clifford Loveland. He is survived by his wife, Doris I. Loveland of Andover, OH; his son, Larry D. (Carol) Loveland of Andover, OH; his son, James L. (Judy) Loveland of Williamsburg, VA; six grandchildren, Michelle, Timothy, and Marc Loveland; and Kristin Tarrant, Amanda, and Jamie Loveland; and two great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2005, at 12:00p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Jeffrey Stoll, of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Calling hours will be on Friday from 10:00a.m. until the service at 12:00p.m. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover.
