Lee E. Fetters, age 84, a lifetime resident of New Lyme, Ohio, died Monday, September 27, 2010, at Jefferson Healthcare Center. He was born January 24, 1926, in New Lyme, a son of the late Wilma M. (Bebout) and Roy A. Fetters. Mr. Fetters served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and Japan. On June 29, 1947 he married Laurel L. Bissett. He worked as a dairy farmer for several years before working at the Federal Land Bank in Warren, Ohio, where he retired in 1985, and served as the President of the Federal Land Bank Association. Mr. Fetters served as a New Lyme trustee and also served as Road Supervisor for the township for eleven years. He was a member of the Pymatuning Valley School Board for five years. Mr. Fetters was a member of the Farm Bureau and of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Men's Group. He enjoyed farming, fishing and working with wood. Mr. Fetters is preceded in death by his parents; a great granddaughter, Larie Ashley Marshall; four brothers, Vernon Fetters, Roy Fetters Jr., Victor Fetters, and Roger Fetters; and three sisters, Glenna Lipps, Rosalyn Beckwith, and Emogene Piper Smith. Survivors include wife of 63 years, Laurel L. (Bissett) Fetters; four daughters, Barbara L. (Loren) Hopkins of Kinsman, Ohio, Debra L. (James) McHale of Westford, Pennsylvania, Pamela R. (Marty) Milinski of Jefferson, Ohio and Eileen E. (Doug) Raymond of Geneva, Ohio; two sons, David Lee (Bonnie) Fetters of Kent, Ohio and Timothy E. (Laura) Fetters of Kinsman, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren with two more on the way. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral Home 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Pastor Ed J. Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Brownville Cemetery, in New Lyme, Ohio. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 1st from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
