Leila Virginia Stevens

Cortland, Ohio - Leila V. Stevens, age 87, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her home with her daughter by her side. She was born on January 31, 1925, in Gustavus, Ohio, a daughter of Hazel (Shaffer) and Arthur "Bill" Hines. Leila was a 1943 graduate of Gustavus High School. She retired from Packard Electric after many years of service. Leila enjoyed painting and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Cauffield who died in 1947; her second husband, Robert E. Ussery who died in 1985 and her third husband, George L. Stevens, Sr. who died in 1992; her son, Gerald R. Ussery; her sisters, Helen Fry and Ada Smith; and brothers, Martin, Anderson "Butch", Howard and Loren Hines. Survivors include her daughter, Diane L. Leano of Warren, Ohio; her grandson who loving took care of his grandmother, Michael E. Leano, Sr. of Warren, Ohio; her granddaughter and spiritual caregiver, Ria F. Leano, Sr. of San Diego, California; her sister, Louise Shaffer of Cortland, Ohio; her brother, Floyd Hines of Kinsman, Ohio; her great grandchildren, Te'Arie, Nyja, Michael, Jr. and Ria, Jr.; her nieces that helped in her care, Bonnie and Brenda Hines; her sister-in-law, Genevieve and Gene Kaszowski; her cousin, Arlene Bailes and other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for all their great care and love. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 2:00pm at Kinsman Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
