Leo Carl Gogul

Andover, Ohio – Leo Carl Gogul, age 92, died on Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home unexpectedly. He was born on April 11, 1922 in Wheeling, West Virginia a son of Frances (Chempel) and John Gogul. Mr. Gogul served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a truck driver doing both over the road and doing daily city deliveries, having last worked for Lyons Transport in Erie, Pennsylvania. Mr. Gogul was a member of the Andover Christian Church, the Local Teamsters Union and Modern Woodmen of America. He enjoyed gardening, listening to polka music while tinkering in his shop, traveling and vacationing in Florida. Mr. Gogul is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Joseph, Walter, Stanley, Frank Gogul and his first wife of fifty-five years, Phyllis (Crawford) Gogul. Survivors include his wife of twelve years, Diane M. (Kondas) Gogul, whom he married on March 22, 2002. Other survivors are his three daughters, Carol (William) Bremner of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Karen (John) Rees of Annapolis, Maryland, and Denise (Tony) Callipari of Satellite Beach, Florida; a son David L. (Susan) Gogul of Saybrook, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. He was dearly loved by his children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by many. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Pastor Robert Gears officiating. Calling hours will be on Thursday May 29th from 11:00am until the time of services. Private burial will be in Hayes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Andover Christian Church-Youth Programs, PO Box 1268, Andover, OH 44003.
