Hartford, Ohio-Leon Carlisle Porch , age 92, died at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. He was born on January 12, 1923 in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, a son of Minnie (Buzza) and Joseph Domer Porch. Mr. Porch was a 1940 graduate of the former Hurst High School, graduate of the Henry Ford Trade School and the Navy Pier Diesel School. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a motor machinist 1st Class from 1941 until 1946. . On October 12, 1944 he married Florence K. Carpenter . He owned and operated J.C. Moore Supply Company along with his brother Millard Porch. Mr. Porch was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and was a volunteer fireman. He and his wife retired to Venice Florida in 1982 where he enjoyed singing in the Sarasota Keys Barber Shop and Harmony Four Quartet. He became a master carver of beautiful and unique canes which he gifted to his family and friends. Mr. Porch had been a resident of Hartford, Ohio for the past eleven years. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Millard Porch and Ronald Porch; three sisters, Beatrice Mann, Genevieve Strumsky and Lois Scott. Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years Florence K. Porch of Hartford, Ohio; five daughters, Cassandra L. Murray of Venice, Florida, Betsy A. Edgar (Keith) of Hartford, Ohio, Kathryn S. (Ted) Price of Houston, Texas, Linnea (Michael) Anderson of Louisburg, North Carolina and Lisa (Audrey J. Smith) C. Porch of Ambler, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Michael, Scott, Jennifer, Ben, Beth, Matthew, Jonathan, and Ryan; and six great grandchildren, Karina, Jasmine, Mackenzie, Liam, Tristan and Josie. No public services will be held at this time. Burial will be in Trauger Lutheran Church Cemetery, Trauger, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Program.
