LeRoy Draa, 83 years old, of Burghill, OH, died on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at his son's residence in Vernon Township, Ohio. Mr. Draa was born on October 2, 1921, in Vernon Township, OH, to the late Frank Draa and the late Nellie (Lane) Draa. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Draa has lived in Burghill for the past 58 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during World War II in the South Pacific. He was employed as a shearman for American Welding in Niles, Ohio, for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Kinsman Grange; a lifetime member of the Optimist Club; and a member of the Vernon United Methodist Church. Mr. Draa was also a library aid at the Hartford Elementary School for many years. He was an outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading. Mr. Draa married Shirley J. (Coxson) on March 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1995. Also preceding him in death are his parents; 2 sisters, Evelyn Barto and Hazel Amato; and three brothers, Nathan, Gordon, and Hallie Draa. He is survived by his son, Brian Draa of Burghill, OH; his son, Kevan (Jeannette) Draa of Vernon Township, OH; his sister, Irene Detwiler of Saxton, PA; four grandchildren, Erich and Travis A. Draa; and Rishelle White and Trisha Tunison; six great grandchildren, Haden, Keton, Ronnie, Kathylee, and Hanna Draa, and Ada White. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 11a.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, OH. Burial will follow in West View Cemetery, Vernon Township, OH. Calling hours will be on Monday, April 18th from 6p.m. to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
