Leta Leona Acierno

Leta Leona Acierno, age 98, of Ravenna, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2006. She was born December 27, 1907, in New Lyme, Ohio, to Arthur and Leona (Tompkins) Giddings. Mrs. Acierno had lived in Ravenna since 1997. She attended the Congregational Church in Ashtabula, and more recently had been attending the Portage Community Chapel in Ravenna. She retired from Reliance Electric in Ashtabula where she had been an assembler. She loved to crochet, embroider, make quilts and afghans, travel, and was an avid bowler. She also loved cooking and baking, canning fruit and vegetables, and keeping her flower garden. She will be greatly missed and is survived by her nieces,nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, many friends, and acquaintances who lovingly referred to her as "Aunt Leta". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Acierno; brother, Dean Giddings, and sisters, Blanche Rhoades and Stella Woodin. A funeral service will be held on Wed., January 25, 2006 at 11:00 A.M., with calling hours one hour prior, at the Portage Community Chapel in Ravenna, with Rev. Mark W. Miller officiating. A funeral service will also be held on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 1:00 P.M., with calling hours one hour prior, at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Richard Woodin officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Robinson Memorial Hospital Visiting Nurse and Hospice, or to the Portage Community Chapel.
