Louis A. Petrus

Louis A. Petrus, age 88, of Andover, Ohio, died Friday, August 29, 2008, at University Hospital in Cleveland,OH. He was born August 21, 1920, in Cleveland,OH, the son of Frank and Katherine (Gabris) Petrus. Formerly of Perry, Ohio, Mr. Petrus was a long time Andover resident. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1980. He also owned and operated over the years Resthaven Nurseries and the Antioch Inn, both in Perry, OH, and Resthaven Campgrounds and the Sportsman Inn, both in Andover, OH. Mr. Petrus was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army in the Armored Division. He was a member of the VFW #9519, Andover; and he enjoyed gardening, fishing, tinkering, and he loved his dogs. Mr. Petrus is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. (Hydu) Petrus, whom he married June 5, 1948, of Andover; a daughter, Linda Petrus; a son, Alan (Jane) Petrus of Kernersville, NC; a daughter, Nancy (Terry) Jenkins of Andover; a daughter, Claudia (Bob) Reynolds of Andover; a son, Steven Petrus of Andover; a daughter, Betty Kolehmainen of Andover; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 3:30 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH, with Pastor Robert Gears officiating. Cremation will follow services. Calling hours will be on Monday from 1:30 P.M. until the time of services.
