Margaret Eleanor Harmon, age 88, of Andover, OH, passed away at home, on Friday, March 4, 2011. She was born January 29, 1923, in Akron, Ohio, to Charles Roscoe and Mabel (Kemp) Burt. She married Charles Thomas Harmon on June 14, 1940, in Andover, Ohio. During World War II while Tom was in the service, Margaret worked at the Target factory in Kinsman, and raised two small boys. Several years after the war she decided to stay home and concentrate on raising her family. She also joined the Andover Fire Department Auxiliary; and she and her dear friend, Rogene Dolan, taught ceramics in West Andover. Margaret was a believer in the extended family, and consequently, she and Tom provided a home for her mother and grandmother until they were called away. Margaret loved her home and family, and was the happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren for whom she proved to be a tremendous playmate. Margaret and Tom traveled extensively across the United States, camping at one level or another, from tents to a motor home. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and caregiving. During her final days, as ill as she was, she still was asking if those taking care of her were getting any sleep and if they'd had anything to eat. She leaves her family and friends with many loving memories, and will be greatly missed by all, including her cats, Timmy and Cutie Pie. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne (Gordon) Tressler of Dorset,OH; her two sons, Carlyn D. (Marie) Harmon of Andover, OH, and William (Faye) Harmon of Tappahannock, VA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband on August 29, 2010; her granddaughter, Anita Kolb; her great granddaughter, Amanda Kolb; her brother, Harold Burt; and her sister, Gertrude Welfley. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH, with Pastor Jason Hockran officiating. Burial will follow in Dorset Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, March 7th from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
