Margaret Mahannah, 97, of Willoughby, Ohio, died on February 16, 2013 at the Fairmount Health Center of Breckenridge Village, with her family by her side. She was a good friend to many and played a very special part in the lives of her nieces, nephews, and their families. Margaret was born in Gustavus, Ohio, on September 13, 1915. She was the daughter of Albert and Florence (Logan) Noble. A 1933 graduate of Kinsman High School, Margaret was a faithful attendee at the yearly Kinsman Alumni Banquet. She married Forrest G. Mahannah of Sharon, Pennsylvania, on November 12, 1937. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage before his death in 1994. While living in Cincinnati, Margaret attended the University of Cincinnati for one year, studying bookkeeping. After moving to Shaker Heights, Ohio, she worked for the Motor Discount Company as a manger in the auto financial sales department for 30 years. Margaret enjoyed handicrafts, especially knitting and crocheting. In addition to knitting items for her family, she knit many hats for newborns at Rainbow Babies and Children Hospital. After her retirement, she learned the art of quilting and helped create and sew quilts for foster children as a member of the Community Quilters of Shaker Heights. A member of the Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights, Margaret belonged to the Candy Circle. She spent many years making hand dipped candies with her fellow church members. Before moving to Breckenridge Village in Willoughby, Margaret was awarded a key to the City of Shaker Heights by the mayor during a block party held in her honor. Noted was her friendliness to all and positive outlook on life. Preceding her in death was her husband, Forrest, in 1994, a brother James Noble in 1983, sisters Mary Emma Bartish in 2007, and Grace Rieth in 2009, and by nephews Joshua Barks in 2000 and Scott Noble in 2009. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Wilma Jean (Nolan) Blank of Spring Branch, Texas, Greg (Carolyn, deceased) Bartish of Lorain, Janice (Gary) Barks of Fairport Harbor, Nancy (Larry) Holodnak of Jefferson, and James (Shirley) Noble of Middlefield, ten great nieces and nephews, four great-great nieces and nephews, and her dearest friend for over 70 years, Madge Covert of Muncie, Indiana. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, Ohio. Friends and relatives may visit from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Officiating will be clergy from the Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights and the Rev. Nolan Blank. Burial will follow in the Kinsman Cemetery.
