Margot MacMichael

Margot “Maggie” MacMichael, 88, passed away in Hendersonville, North Carolina on Saturday, June 14, 2014. She was born on May 20, 1926 in Frankfurt, Germany and was adopted as an infant by her parents, Emma Frech (nee Shaufhauser) and Karl Frech, and grew up in Frankfurt. She completed high school in 1942 and after World War II worked as a translator in a U.S. Army bakery in Frankfurt, where she met her future husband, Donald B. MacMichael. She later came to the United States and they married in Ashtabula on June 18, 1948. Maggie was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed baking, reading and spending time with her family. She was a devoted Lutheran. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 50 years Donald, 2 sisters and a brother. She is survived by her three children, Donald C. (Mercia) MacMichael, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, William (Rebecca) MacMichael, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Linda (James) Brandow, of Asheville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Brian (Emily) MacMichael, Carl MacMichael, Marla MacMichael, Rae (Rick) Andreano, Daniel Gatewood, Kevin Brandow, Michael Brandow, Bryan (Francine) Brandow; five great-grandchildren, Linus MacMichael, Edmund MacMichael, Sidney Andreano, Ethan Brandow, Caleb Brandow, nephew Terry (Arlene) MacMichael, niece, Barbara Kessel, nephew, Kurt (Doris) Gross of Frankfurt, Germany and their daughter Linda Gross of Hamburg, Germany and many grandnephews and grandnieces. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 12:00pm, at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
