Marilyn Jean Malz, age 75, of Richmond Township, Ohio, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at her daughter's home in Pierpont, OH. She was born on March 11, 1937, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Albert Anselm and Eva Marguerite (Frye) Sundberg. Mrs. Malz was a 1955 graduate of Rock Creek High School. As a child she was a 4-H member and also assisted her family farm business with delivery of bottled milk from Sunhaven Dairy. A school bus driver, she started driving for Jefferson Local Schools and then proudly served for 31 years with Pymatuning Valley Schools. She finished driving for Buckeye Local Schools, retiring in 2011. Mrs. Malz was a Richmond Township Trustee for 24 years. She was a member of the Dorset United Methodist Church, Ashtabula County Farm Bureau, the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club, the Portersville Steam & Gas Engine Society, and the Republican Party. Jim and Marilyn owned and operated a dairy farm working side by side from 1966 until 1998. She enjoyed traveling and running and operating steam engines. She was affectionately known as "The Lady Engineer." For many years Mrs. Malz played softball for the Jefferson Area Women's Softball league on the Gear Jammers team. She married James Edward Malz on May 14, 1966, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2008. She is also preceded by her parents. Survivors include seven daughters, Debra L. (Robert) Lehman of Mineral Ridge,OH, Darlene K. Cipra of Andover, OH, Laurie A. (David) Millard of Pierpont, OH, L. Elaine Spencer of Middlefield, OH, Arletta M. (Pete) Lower of Pierpont, OH, Deanna J. Brant of Cherry Valley Township,OH, and Nancy M. Malz of Richmond Township, OH; one son, James M. (Sonia) Malz of Brecksville,OH; 17 Grandchildren; and 11 Great Grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Sundberg of Rock Creek,OH, and Kenneth Sundberg of Jefferson,OH; and three sisters, Doris Williams of Andover,OH, Lillian Sherry of Greenville, OH, and Charlene Steuer of Inman, SC. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH. Burial will follow in Richmond Center Cemetery.
