Cortland, Ohio - Marlene B. Hoover, age 76, died on Friday, October 17, 2008, after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 27, 1931, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ralph B. and Frances S. (Sanford) Barnes. Mrs. Hoover was a 1949 graduate of Andover High School and attended Business School in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover, Ohio, the Eastern Star Covered Bridge Chapter # 591and the Andover Mardi Club. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and playing the organ. On November 4, 1951 she married Richard L. Hoover. He died May 19, 2001 after forty-nine years of marriage. Survivors include a son, Randall B. Hoover of Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter, Melanie K. (Bill) Anderson of Akron, Ohio; granddaughters, Megan and Marnie Anderson; and a brother, Rex. C. Barnes. Private graveside services will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, Ohio.
