Mary E. "Betty" Luce

Mentor, Ohio - Mary E. "Betty" Luce, age 86, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at her home in Mentor, Ohio. She was born on September 21, 1924, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Dorothy M. (Kincaid) and Hobart Rhodes, Sr. Betty was a 1941 graduate of McKeesport High School and a 1965 graduate of California State Teachers College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor in Nursing. She was in Nursing Administraiton, then a school nurse and finally a visiting nurse until she retired in 1984. On February 2, 1946 she married Clarence A. Luce, Jr. Betty was an avid reader and loved to travel. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years; her parents; and a brother Hobart Rhodes, Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann (Tim) Tamok of Andover, Ohio; a son, David D. (Karen) Luce of Madisonville, Kentucky; a brother, Robert (Ruth) Rhodes of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Robert Schlatt, Sandra Harper and Kelly Hrabley and six great grandchildren.
