Espyville, Pennsylvania - Mary F. Chorney, age 76, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at St. Paul Homes in Greenville, Pennsylvania, following a brief illness. She was born on April 6, 1930 in Lynch, Kentucky to Wasil and Mary (Guyrisin) Kovalevich. Formerly of California and North Babylon, New York, Mrs. Chorney was an Espyville resident since 1984. She was a 1948 graduate of Lynch High School, a 1951 graduate of St. Elizabeth's Nursing School and received her Bachelor in Nursing from the University of Kentucky while working at the Veterans Hospital in Kentucky. Mrs. Chorney was the Director of the Gallatin Medical Group in Downey, California until 1967. She married Peter Chorney Sr. on January 13, 1968. Mrs. Chorney was a member of Our Lady Of Victory Church where she was active in her faith as a Cantor since 1986 until recently. She was the Vice Chairperson for the North Shenango Area Recreation Center for many years; a treasurer of North Shenango V.F.D.; Secretary of the North Shenango Zoning Hearing Board for twelve years. Mrs. Chorney enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing and nursing part time to help others. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Peter Chorney Sr. in 2001, and a sister Anna Ornella. Survivors include a step-son Peter Chorney Jr. of Bellingham, Washington; a step-daughter, Elizabeth A. Chorney of Bay Shore, New York; two sisters, Olga Clifton of Chardon, Ohio, Margaret Purdy of Covington, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 481 South Main Street, Andover, Ohio with Father David M. Misbrener officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of cremated remains in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
