Mary E. Clay

Mary E. Clay, age 90, of Williamsfield, OH, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at her home. She was born February 19, 1919, in Paris Township, OH, the daughter of William C. and Elizabeth M. (Davis) Goodman. A long time Williamsfield resident, Mrs. Clay was formerly of Newton Falls and North Jackson. She was employed by Lordstown Depot, Republic Steel in Warren, and Murphy's Store in Youngstown. She was a member of the First Federated Church in North Jackson. Mrs. Clay enjoyed quilting, bird watching, gardening, and taking care of her grandchildren through the years. Mrs. Clay married Joseph T. Clay, Sr., on Dec. 22, 1938; and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1972. Also preceding her are her parents; one brother, Charles Goodman; and two sisters, Margaret Gibson and Ruth McDowell. She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Clay, Jr., of Williamsfield, and William (Louellen) Clay of Arcadia, FL; her brother, George Goodman of McDonald, OH; her sister, Dorothy Mann of Austintown,OH; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH. Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery in Paris Township, OH.
