Mary E. Makuta

Mary Elizabeth Makuta, age 92, of Andover, Ohio, formerly of Curtisville, PA, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Lake Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Conneaut,OH. She was born December 3, 1919, in Pierpont, Ohio, a daughter of Nicholas and Helen (Falvarski) Yourchak. She graduated from Conneaut High School in 1938. Mrs. Makuta was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She loved to can her own food. She married Michael S. Makuta on July 5, 1941; and he preceded her in death in July 1992. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Halovanic. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise (Don) Pruitt of Gaithersburg, MD; her son, Michael F. (Patty) Makuta of Mt. Olive, IL; her son-in-law, Joe Halovanic of University Heights, OH; a sister, Anne (Fred) Thome of Ashtabula,OH; two brothers, John Yourchak of Andover, OH, and Mike (Georgia) Yourchak of Pierpont,OH; 9 grandchildren; 1 step grandson; 6 great grandchildren; and 4 step great grandchildren. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH, with Rev. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. A private burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Tarentum, PA. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
