Mary C. Phillips

Graveside services for Mary C. Phillips, 93, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, April 21st, 2008 at Hayes Cemetery, Wayne Township, Ohio. She passed away Thursday, April 10th, 2008 in Wheatfield, New York. Born July 2nd, 1914 in Williamsfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles and Mabel Overmoyer. Mary married E. Ellwood (Red) Phillips in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1991. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Edythe Dillon in 1991 and Marjorie Gschwind in 2007. Mary is survived by two sons, Charles of Petaluma, California and Robert of Grand Island, New York, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. When she first got out of college, Mary taught elementary grades in the Wayne Central schools and in a one-room schoolhouse in Rock Creek, Ohio. She and her husband moved to Buffalo, New York, where they eventually founded Phil-leys, E-Z Just Products, manufacturers of model airplane accessories. Mary was active in the American Field Service and led two Senior Citizen groups & Home Bureau. Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking, and crafts of many kinds. In her later years, she returned to college to learn computer skills and made many custom cards containing scanned photos. While in New Mexico she adopted Tiffany, a Pomeranian, who stayed by her side for many years. Those who knew and loved Mary will greatly miss her.
