Mary Jo Orahood

Mary Jo Orahood, 72, died on June 23, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born on February 14, 1941 in Painesville, Ohio to Luman and Josephine (Wickert) Johnson. She graduated from Andover High School in 1959. Mary Jo married Ronald E. Orahood on April 9, 1960. She began her employment at the Andover Public Library as a part-time librarian before working her way to become its Director in 1983. Mary Jo was very instrumental in the growth and development of the library because of her passion for reading that she wanted to pass on to the community. She retired in October of 2007. She was a charter member of the Andover Christian Church, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School director for many years. Mary Jo was a former member and Past President of the Andover Rotary Club, and was very active with the Pymatuning Valley Music Boosters and Cub Scouts. Her love of reading was shared with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Todd E. Orahood on August 31, 2011, and her brother, Ronald Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, of Andover, her sons Brian (Billie) Orahood of Bremo Bluff, Virginia and Scott (Sonia) Orahood of Andover, her two sisters, Barbara (Russell) Hall of Conneaut, Ohio and Linda Russo of Painesville, Ohio, her grandchildren, Mallory Orahood, Meredith (Shawn) Burton, Tesla Rodriguez, Cassandra Orahood, Ethan Rodriguez, and Isaac Orahood. Funeral services will be held at the Andover Christian Church, Stillman Avenue, Andover Ohio, on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Brian Orahood officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover. Calling hours will be held at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
