Matthew S. Panak

Matthew S. Panak, 80 years old, of Kinsman, Ohio, died on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at home. Mr. Panak was born on February 4, 1924, to the late Stephen F. Panak and the late Mary P. (Kitko) Panak in Mader, PA. A lifelong Kinsman resident, Mr. Panak was a 1942 graduate of Kinsman High School. He drove school bus for Kinsman High School for 10 years, and was a trustee for Kinsman Township for 12 years. He worked as a foreman of transportation for Copperweld Steel of Warren for over 27 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Panak was a member of the Trumbull County Farm Bureau and the Kinsman Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed farming, hunting, nickel-dime poker, bowling and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan. He married M. Ruth Wall on June 30, 1945, she died on December 20, 1967. He then married Delores "Dolly" Osborne, she died on July 16, 1980. Mr. Panak is also preceded in death by one brother, Albert Panak. He is survived by his two daughters, Kathie A. Goss-Gill of Kinsman, OH; Julie A. Amodio of Champion, OH; his son, George S. Panak of Kinsman, OH; his eight sisters, Anne Kozak of Strongsville, OH; Agnes Slywezak of Cortland, OH; Irene Sawayda of Cortland, OH; Joan Sawayda of Champion, OH; Helen Flannery of Bazetta, OH; Nancy Kwallek of Texas; Rosalie Weischedel of Oregon; Pat Horning of Oregon; his four brothers, Joe Panak of Newton Falls, OH; Frank Panak of Centerville, OH; Phillip Panak of Kinsman, OH; Wendell Panak of Hubbard, OH; his four granddaughters, Vicki Shorts of Southington, OH; Renee Windham of South Carolina; Karen Amodio of South Carolina; and Sherry Jewell of Kinsman, OH; his five grandsons, Paul Panak of Kinsman, OH; Brian Wilson of Fowler, OH; David Amodio of Niles, OH; Brad Gill of Kinsman, OH; and Jim Somerville of California; and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at 11:00a.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Pastor Gregory Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery.
