Michael W. Kinnane, age 67, resident of Butler, Ohio, passed away the morning of August 16, 2015, at the Andover Village Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Andover, OH. He was recuperating from complications that resulted following surgery in January of this year. Mike was born April 6, 1948, in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Thomas E. and Rachel Maxine (Barrett) Kinnane. He was a 1966 graduate from Msg. Hackett High School in Kalamazoo. Always a dependable and hard worker, while in high school Mike worked at the S. Westnedge Car Wash, followed by a stint at Rheem's, then James River before getting hired at the GM Plant starting in 1969. Having spent 25 years working at the GM-Kalamazoo plant he transferred to the GM-Mansfield plant in 1994, where he retired in 2004. He was proud to be a member of the UAW and the benefits it provided him and his family. He enjoyed his retirement at his small farm near Butler, Ohio, working with his buddy, Willy Pack, who both enjoyed working together on small engine repairs, restoring John Deere lawn tractors and Gators, and also a few automobiles. Mike is survived by his wife, Frances E. (Simons) Kinnane of Butler, OH; his son, Thomas Kinnane, of Butler, OH; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Timothy Becker and their 5 children; his brother, Charles Kinnane of Michigan; his sisters-in-law, Donna Kinnane of California, Lucille Kinnane of Michigan; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Simons of Connecticut, Terri Newman of Florida, Paul and Shelley Simons of Michigan, Rima Simons of Florida, and Richard and Marleah Simons of Michigan; several nieces and nephews in Michigan and California; and a group of very special friends in Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Thomas Kinnane; and two sisters, Katherine and Patricia. According to Mike's wishes, there will be no service. His cremated remains will be buried in the family plot in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kalamazoo, MI, at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
