Mikel E. Gerrick

Mikel E. Gerrick, age 85, of Andover, OH, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren,OH. He was born November 7, 1930, in Watopa, Minnesota, a son of Joseph Gerrick Sr. and Mary (Zomok) Gerrick. A long time Andover resident, Mr. Gerrick was employed at the former Rockwell International in Saybrook,OH. He retired in 1985 after 32 years of service. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He earned the Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Campaign Stars and the UN Service Medal. Mr. Gerrick was an avid golfer, fisherman, and bowler having won many awards. He married Dorothy L. (Blair) on July 2, 1952, and she preceded him in death Oct. 28, 1992. He is also preceded by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and David Gerrick. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra (David) Evans of Richmond Heights,OH; his son, Michael (Janie) Gerrick of Warren, OH; his three grandchildren, Sean Evans, Shannon Gerrick, and David Gerrick; his one brother, Joseph Gerrick, Jr. of Andover, OH; and his two sisters, Mary Ann Lahner of Broadview Heights, OH, and Barbara Gower of Medina, OH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery.
