MILDRED L. APPLEGATE, age 85, of Champion, Ohio, died Friday, August 3, 2007. She was born December 3, 1921, in Johnston, Ohio, the daughter of Harold E. and Mary A. (Carr) Tucker, raised by her grandparents, Harold B. and Maggie Tucker. A resident of Champion since 1956, Mrs. Applegate was formerly of Gustavus where she was a 1940 graduate of Gustavus High School. She was a homemaker; and was employed by Servo-mation Vending at Packard Electric for ten years. She was a member of the Champion Church of the Nazarene; a member of the Royal Neighbors of America; the Ruth Circle; and was a Blue Star Mother. Her hobbies included baking, canning, quilting, knitting, crocheting, camping, and traveling. Mrs. Applegate married Idean S. Applegate on May 9, 1942, and was preceded in death by him on Sept. 1, 1959. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Howard Tucker; one sister, Doris Stanford; and one great granddaughter. She is survived by her twin sons, Eugene (Judy) Applegate and Idean (Paula) Applegate, and daughter, Mary (Ray) Traenkle, all of Champion, Ohio; two sisters, Ruth J. Logan of Williamsfield, Ohio, and Carme Louk of Chesapeake, Virginia; 9 Grandchildren; and 12 Great Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH, with Rev. Fred Blauser officiating. Burial will follow in Johnston Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 5th from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
