Champion, Ohio - Mildred Hazel Baker, age 84, died on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Warren, Ohio. She was born on April 6, 1931 in Gustavus, Ohio, a daughter of Vada (Eastlake) and Kenneth Jewell. Mrs. Baker was a 1948 graduate of Gustavus High School. On November 6, 1948 she married Robert Kenneth Baker, Sr. She was formerly a longtime member of the Champion Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Cortland SCOPE where she enjoyed socializing with her friends. She also enjoyed playing cards and dancing. Mrs. Baker is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-six years, Robert K. Baker; a daughter, Diane L. Baker; a great granddaughter, Angela Baker and a brother, Ronald Jewell. Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda D. (William) Downs of Cortland, and April R. (Scott) Pinion of Brookfield; four sons, Kenneth R. Baker, Jr. of Howland, Gary R. (Alyce) Baker, Sr. of Cortland, Jeffrey L. Baker of Shaker Heights and Gregory L. Baker of Champion; two brothers, Keith Jewell of Champion and Vanton Jewell of Andover; seven grandchildren, Gary (Rachel) Baker of Niles, Jeremy (Kimberly) Baker of Cortland, Sara Baker of Cortland, Jennifer Baker of Hermitage, Amy Jo Downs of Chicago, Jessica Downs of Cleveland and Scott Pinion, Jr. of Brookfield and three great grandsons, Ethan Baker, Landon Baker and Preston Baker. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Champion Cemtery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 13th from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and on Monday from 10:00am until the time of services.
