Myron D. "Mike" French, age 80, of Andover, Ohio, died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at University Hospital Extended Care Campus in Chardon, Ohio. He was born January 3, 1928, in Andover, Ohio, the son of Stiles and Mabel (Sparks) French. A lifetime Andover resident, Mr. French was a 1946 Andover High School graduate; and was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. Mr. French was employed as a sheet metal worker for HAVE, Inc. in Ashtabula for many years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover; the American Legion Post #226, Andover; was a Master Mason in the Triandria Lodge, Rock Creek; and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. His hobbies included golfing, gardening, and he enjoyed all sports. Mr. French is survived by his wife, Shirley E. (Mock) French, whom he married Dec. 29, 1956, of Andover; a daughter, Samantha (Greg) Brown of Bristolville,OH, a son, Myron R. French of Andover, OH, a daughter, Heidi French of Chardon, OH; three grandsons, Adam (Allison) Brown of Cuyahoga Falls,OH, and Jacob and Nick Brown of Bristolville,OH; one brother, James (Marian) French of Andover; one sister, Jane (Frank) Mason of Andover; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Donald, Gordon, and Bill French. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH. Cremation will follow services. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 9th from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home with Masonic services being held at 7:45 P.M.
