Myron "Mike" L. Overly

Andover, Ohio – Myron “Mike” Lee Overly, age 68, died on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at the Erie VA Medical Center. He was born on January 3, 1947, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, a son of Virginia Mae (Currie) and Owen Dale Overly. Mike was a 1965 graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School in Andover, Ohio and a 1966 graduate of Moeller Barber College. From 1966 until 1968 he served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart for his actions and from 1970 until 1994 he served in the United States Air Force Reserves at Vienna Air Base, for twenty-four years. Mike was a Quality Supervisor for Parker Hannifin of Andover for twenty-two years and retired in 2002. On August 23, 1969 he married Paula Lynn Cico. Mike was formerly a member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He is a lifetime member of the Percy D. Hyatt American Legion Post No. 226 of Andover, Ohio. Mike enjoyed going fishing, painting, gardening, doing yardwork, spending time at Casinos and he was a NASCAR fan. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Corey M. Overly and two brothers, John R. ”Jack” Overly and Charles D. Overly. Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Paula L. Overly of Andover, Ohio; two sons, Anthony M. (Tricia) Overly of Conneaut, Ohio and Timothy M. Overly of Williamsfield, Ohio; a grandson, Cody Overly; a great granddaughter, Riley Overly; two step grandchildren, Nathan & Samantha Decker and a brother, Dale O. (Nancy) Overly of Johnston, Ohio. A celebration service with military honors will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 3:00pm at the home of Timothy Overly, 8189 Ridge Road, Williamsfield, Ohio, with a covered dish picnic to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie VA Hospice, 135 East 38th Street, Erie, PA, 16504.
