Wayne, Ohio – Nathan Lee Bates, age 18, died on Thursday, October 3, 2013, in St. Elizabeth’s Health Center, in Youngstown, Ohio, following a motor vehicle accident. He was born on April 27, 1995, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, a son of Pamela Ann (Nesbitt) and Larry Lee Bates. A lifelong Wayne, Ohio resident, Nathan was a 2013 graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School. He worked for H & H Enterprises of Andover, Ohio and was a member of the Cherry Valley First Church of God. Nathan loved to be outdoors, going hunting, fishing, camping, farming, paintball and 4-wheeling. He was known for his warm smile, generous ways and gracious heart and always there to lend a hand to whomever needed it. Nathan was a Steelers’ and an OSU fan and could be found with his beloved dog Diesel. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Geraldine and Bartly Bates. Survivors include his parents, Pamela and Larry Bates of Wayne, Ohio; two sisters, Audrey M. (Joe) Niemuth of Estes Park, Colorado and Lisa L. (Ben) Gunter of Kirtland, Ohio; three brothers, Aaron L. (Aubrey) Bates of Ashland, Ohio, Adam L. (Cheryl) Bates of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Allen L. (Shana Soderstrom) Bates of Orwell, Ohio, maternal grandparents, Marion and Richard Nesbitt, Sr. of Cochranton, Pennsylvania; two nieces, Annie and Emily; five nephews, Keslar, Ty, Maciah, Tanner and Sawyer and many aunts, uncles and friends who will miss him dearly. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:00am at the First Church of God Cherry Valley, 2983 Sentinel Road, Dorset, Ohio, with the Reverend’s Gary Morrison and Garry L. Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery in Wayne, Ohio. Calling hours will be on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
