Norma L. Palmer, age 69, of Cherry Valley Township, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Cherry Valley Township on March 31, 1942, a daughter of Fred H. and Lucy (Mellinger) Mead. A lifelong Cherry Valley resident, Mrs. Palmer owned and operated a farm with her husband, Keith, whom she married March 5, 1961. She was a 1960 graduate of New Lyme Deming School, where she was class Salutatorian. She was a lifelong Nazarene; but most recently had attended the Eagleville Bible Church in Rock Creek. Mrs. Palmer was very active in church having taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also was a music leader and sang in choir. She enjoyed flower gardening and cooking, especially for her family. She was passionate about her family and taking care of them; and loved to spend time with and dote over her grandchildren. Mrs. Palmer always encouraged her family and others to remember Jesus. Mrs. Palmer is survived by her husband, Keith D. Palmer, of Cherry Valley; her son, Keith D. (Laura) Palmer, Jr., of Cherry Valley; her son, Daniel K. (Celia) Palmer, of Bethany, OK; her daughter, Valerie (Mark) Erskine, of Mercer, PA; her eight grandchildren; and three sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Cherry Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3410 St. Rt.6, Andover,OH 44003, with Rev. Shirley Deemer and Pastor Bill McMinn officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, June 24th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cherry Valley Church of the Nazarene.
