Opal Slusher, age 89, of Ashtabula,OH, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at UH Conneaut Medical Center, Conneaut,OH. She was born September 12, 1921, in Willoughby, OH, a daughter of Melvin and Flossie (Lenney) Overmier. A long time area resident, Mrs. Slusher owned and operated a lumber business with her husband for many years. She was also employed by Andover Industries for over 15 years. She was a past member of the Andover Eagle's Club; and she enjoyed dancing, collecting porcelain dolls, watching game shows, and listening to country and polka music. Mrs. Slusher married Alfred F. Slusher on June 25, 1936; and he preceded her in death in 1968. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her step father, Harry Schillinger; her great grandson, Chad Shetler; her three brothers, Neal, Howard, and Carl Overmier; and her two sisters, Eva Quiggle and Gladys Kincaid. She is survived by a son, Wilfrod (Dee) Slusher of Rice Lake, WI, a daughter, Thelma (Robert) Drnek of Andover, OH, a son, Glenn (Eileen) Slusher of Andover,OH, a daughter, Donna (Keith) Rhoades of Richmond Township,OH, a son, Neal (Val) Slusher of Andover,OH, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, a brother, Roy (Linda) Overmier of Bristolville,OH, five sisters, Edith Davis of Niles,OH, Lucille Campbell of Michigan, Carol (Ed) Kassay of Cortland,OH, Ruth (Bob) McClellan of West Farmington, OH, and June (Bill) Hall of Kentucky. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St.,Andover,OH. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover.
