Phillip E. Samuels

Hartford Township,OH--- PHILLIP E. SAMUELS, age 81, of Hartford,OH, died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at his home. He was born February 8, 1926, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Phillip G. and Mary E. (Funk) Samuels. A resident of Hartford for 58 years, Mr. Samuels retired from Van Huffel Tube as a machinist after 38 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Mr. Samuels served as president of the Hartford Optimist Club; was a life member of the Hartford VFW; and was a member of the Jerusalem Lodge #19, where he was a Past Master and 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Samuels was a member of the Hartford Community Church, where he had served as a deacon; and he belonged to the Hartford Chapter Order of Eastern Star #518, where he served as Worthy Patron five times. Mr. Samuels enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Samuels is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Taylor) Samuels, whom he married October 2, 1948, of Hartford, OH; his daughter, Mabel (John) Pelton of Vernon Township, OH; his brother, Harry (Ruth) Samuels of Andover,OH; his four grandchildren, Robert (Beth) Hartman of Hartford, OH, Rebecca (Joe) Valentine of Bergholtz, OH, Larry (Robin) Pelton of Burghill,OH, and Laurie (Jeff) Jones of Rome, OH; 8 Great Grandchildren; and his loyal dog, Betsy. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Samuels. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in West View Cemetery, Vernon Township,OH. Calling hours will be on Monday, March 26th from 4 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home with Eastern Star services to be held at 7 P.M., and also on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
