Kinsman, Ohio - Phyllis Jean Flemming, age 79, died peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, August 30, 2018. She was born on October 19, 1938 in Warren, Ohio, a daughter of Jeanne Marie (MacKenzie) and Herbert Franklin Bowman. Phyllis was a 1956 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended Youngstown State University. She worked for the Lippy Group of Warren for twenty-seven years and retired in 2010. On June 22, 1957, she married Richard Joseph Flemming. Formerly of Warren, she was a Kinsman resident since 1970. Phyllis was a member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church and has been the church’s organist for more than forty-five years as well as a deacon. Phyllis had a lifelong love of music. In her younger years she sang on Sunday mornings for WHHH radio, she played piano for The Nurses Choir and the Warren Boys Choir. After moving to Kinsman she learned to play the organ. Phyllis served as a board member of the Warren Civic Music and served as secretary for the Society of Otorhinolaryngology & Head-Neck Nurses. She will be forever remembered by her quick smile and contagious laugh. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Patricia. Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Dick Flemming of Kinsman, Ohio; a daughter. Cynthia L. (William Taylor) Hunkus of Hubbard, Ohio; a son, Richard E. “Rick” (Debbie) Flemming of Kinsman, Ohio; two sisters, Elaine G. Bowers of Powell, Ohio and Rosalind J. (Edward) Mathews of Fort Myers, Florida and six grandchildren, Victoria, Christian and Griffin Hunkus, Joseph and Ryan Flemming and Shannon Battaglia. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 11:00am at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Rev. Susan Francis officiating. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman.
