Phyllis J. Leonhard

Kinsman, Ohio - Phyllis J. Leonhard, age 70, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after her lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on March 19, 1938, in Masury, Ohio, the daughter of the late Stephen and Mildred (Verbancic) Pelles. Phyllis was a 1956 graduate of Brookfield High School. She was employed for over ten years for the Golden Dawn of Kinsman, she then worked for Gorant Candies of Elm Road, in Warren, Ohio. On February 3, 1961, she married Richard M. Leonhard. Phyllis attended the Oasis Family Worship Center in Sharon, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Kinsman Card Club and the Kinsman Social Arts Club. Phyllis had a great love for her family, friends and pets. Since she was a young girl, she always had a dog in her home to love. She enjoyed watching movies, reading, playing board games, making crafts, painting, decorating and sewing. Phyllis is preceded in death by a son, Richard M. Leonhard, II. and an infant brother, Stephen. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Richard M. Leonhard of Kinsman, Ohio; two sons, Gregory B. (Rose) Leonhard of Kinsman, Ohio and Jeffrey S. "Huff" (Kelly) Leonhard of Loogootee, Indiana; a daughter, Lisa D. (Matthew) Masto of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; a brother, David (Flo) Pelles of Mercer, Pennsylvania, and grandchildren, Trina, Lisa and Erika Leonhard; Tiffany, Stephen, Alex and Kylie Leonhard; and Dominic and Jacob Masto. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Rock of Grace Family Ministries, Route 5, Kinsman, Ohio, with Pastor James D. Fleck officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio.
