Gustavus, Ohio - R. Lawrence "Spy" Miller, age 83, died on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 3, 1923, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to Walter I. and Marguerite (Hudson) Miller. Mr. Miller served in the United States Army during World War II. He was in Company A, 717th Tank Battalion in Central Europe. Mr. Miller was a longtime grain farmer and part owner of the W.I. Miller & Sons of Gustavus. Along with farming, Mr. Miller drove school bus for Joseph Badger School district for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church, the former Gustavus Grange, and Trumbull County Farm Bureau where he was a council member. Mr. Miller enjoyed playing cards, gardening, especially his 300 glads with his granddaughters, mowing and collecting model trains and antique cars. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, T. Beryl Knox, whom he married on June 13, 1953. Other survivors include his son, Russell E. "Rusty" and his wife Mindy Miller of Gustavus; granddaughters Emily L. and Jenna R. Miller of Gustavus; a brother, Forest H. and wife Marie Miller of Gustavus; and a sister, Evelyn M. Cox of Englewood, Florida. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Rev. Karl Bucey officiating. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 15th from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
