Cherry Valley, Ohio – Raymond Willard Rausch, age 86, died at his home with his family by his side on Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was born on November 16, 1927, in Champion Heights, Ohio, a son of Eleanor Margaret (Walker) and John Henry “Jack” Rausch. Mr. Rausch served in the United States Navy during World War II in Guam, Japan and Alaska. On January 1, 1949 he married Bessie Vera Hatch. He owned and operated R. W. Rausch Garage, keeping the school buses for Pymatuning Valley in good shape for many years. Mr. Rausch worked on whatever came down the road for over fifty-five years. He was a member of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church. Mr. Rausch enjoyed doing cross stitch, making “Tin Men”, making poodles out of golf tees and going to car shows with cars that he restored himself. He and his wife enjoyed wintering for thirty-one years in Hahira, Georgia. Mr. Rausch is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wanda Horvath and Marjorie McAllister and a brother, Eugene Rausch. Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Bessie V. Rausch; three daughters, Barbara L. Stonebreaker of Dorset, Ohio, Kathi V. (Harry) Kovach of Mesopotamia, Ohio and Cheryl A. Hovanick of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Bryon, Daron, Matthew, Thersa and Anne and eleven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. John M. Germaine officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm and on Wednesday the 30th from 11:00am until the time of services.
