Rebecca Sue Schmidt

Greene, Ohio - Rebecca Sue Schmidt, age 29, died on Saturday, August 28, 2010, after a year long battle with cancer. She was born on August 25, 1981 in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Susan E. (Baer) and John A. Chapin. Rebecca was a 1999 graduate of Grand Valley High School. She was a member of the Jefferson Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness. On May 19, 2007, Rebecca married Barret J. Schmidt. She was a photo lab specialist at Walmart in Middlefield for over five years. Rebecca is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Charles Baer and paternal grandparents, James and Clara (Cutright) Chapin. Survivors included her husband of three years, Barret J. Schmidt of Greene, Ohio; her parents, Susan and John Chapin of Greene, Ohio; a brother, Joshua (Teresa) Wiberg and nieces, Sydney and Emily all of Greene, Ohio; a sister, Hannah (Frank) Paratore of Greene, Ohio; her maternal grandmother, Doris Baer of Greene, Ohio and her Mother & Father-in-law, Cathryn and Michael Schmidt. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Jefferson High School auditorium in Jefferson, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
