Richard L. Hollis, Sr., age 75, of Andover, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was born September 23, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Eva (Walter) Hollis. A long time Andover area resident, Mr. Hollis was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He was employed as a supervisor and inspector for Wean United, Parker Hannifin, Andover Industries, and Arrowhead Industries for many years. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Andover, where he was one of the first mass servers. He also served as a eucharistic minister, an usher, and was church council president for many years. Mr. Hollis was a member of the Youngstown Cursillo Group; and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pymatuning Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed reading, history, and being outside. The love of his life was his family. Mr. Hollis is survived by his wife, Medena R. (Whitmore) Hollis, whom he married June 23, 1956, of Andover; his two sons, Richard L. Hollis, Jr. of Andover, Mark A. (Carol) Hollis, Sr. of Andover; his daughter, Cheryl A. (Lawrence) Shultz of Andover; twelve grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn and Helen Hollis; and six brothers, Eugene, Ray, Herbert, Art, Walter, and Wilford Hollis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 481 S. Main St., Andover, OH. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover. Calling hours will be Monday, April 6th from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH.
