Richard Solarek

Cherry Valley, Ohio - Richard Solarek, age 78, died at his home, on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. He was born on January 30, 1930, in Kalisz, Poland, the son of the late Stanley and Bernadette (Smolinski) Solarek. He graduated High School and College and served in the Polish Army before coming to the United States in 1959. Mr. Solarek lived in Cleveland from 1959 until he moved to Cherry Valley, Ohio in 1969. He did electrical motor work for Reliance Electric in Cleveland, Ohio before opening his own business. Mr. Solarek owned and operated Solar Electric Motors. On September 9, 1955, he married Jadwiga Buraczewski. He was formerly a member of the St. Casimer Church of Cleveland, Ohio and a current member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church of Andover. Mr. Solarek was a member of the Union of Poles in Cleveland, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Mr. Solarek is preceded in death by a son, John P. Solarek. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years Jadwiga Solarek of Cherry Valley, Ohio; two sons, Mark (Kathy) Solarek and Andrew J. (Tammy) Solarek, both of Cherry Valley, Ohio; a sister, Halina Solpien of Kalisz, Poland; four grandchildren, Jared, Sarah, Jena and Andrew, Jr.; along with one niece and two nephews still in Poland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 17, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 481 South Main Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Private burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio.
