Robert H. Engel

Robert H. Engel, age 79, of Cherry Valley township,OH, died Sunday, January 8, 2017, at his home. He was born January 15 ,1937, in Youngstown,OH, a son of Francis J. and Margaret M. (Grimm) Engel. He was a 1955 graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown; and had served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He had been a resident of Cherry Valley since 1974; and was employed as a truck driver for Cooper & Sons and also American Corrugated Company. He also hauled milk for several years in the area. Mr. Engel was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Andover. He enjoyed antique cars, reading, and collecting and building model trains. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. Mr. Engel is survived by his wife, Sandra L. (Von Moos) Engel, whom he married September 2, 1961, of Cherry Valley township; his son, Robert F. (Robin Christopher) Engel of Geneva, OH; his two daughters, Deborah L. (Steven) Behringer of Lancaster, OH, and Cynthia K. (Christopher) Lewis of Columbus, OH; his sister, Dorothy J. (Thomas) Bonaquist of Hubbard, OH; his three grandchildren, Todd and Brian Lewis, and Holly Engel; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and four sisters, Bernadette Eich, Margaret Engel, Marion Moore, and Joanne Manko. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 481 S. Main St., Andover, OH, with Rev. Jeff Stealey officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 12th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH.
