Robert K. Baker, 83 years old, of Cortland, OH, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, OH. Mr. Baker was born on October 18, 1921, in Warren, Ohio, to the late Jack J. Baker and the late Dessie (Crawford) Baker. Formerly of Champion, Mr. Baker has lived in Cortland for the past 3 years. He was a 1940 graduate of Gustavus School in Gustavus, Ohio. He was employed by Brainard Strapping, a division of Sharon Steel, for 24 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to that he worked for the former Republic Steel in Warren for many years. He also owned and operated a farm for many years in Chapion. Mr. Baker served in the United States Army during World War II in Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of the American Legion Post #737 in Lake Milton, OH. His hobbies included gardening, camping, fishing, dancing, and bowling. Mr. Baker married Mildred H. (Jewell) on November 6, 1948. Preceding him in death are his parents; a great granddaughter; and a brother, James D. Baker. He is survived by his wife, Mildred H. Baker of Cortland, OH; his son, Kenneth Robert (Patty) Baker, Jr. of Niles, OH; his daughter, Diane L. Baker of Cortland, OH; his daughter, Rhonda D. (William) Downs of Cortland, OH; his son, Gary R. (Alyce) Baker, Sr. of Cortland, OH; his son, Jeffrey L. Baker of Berea, OH; his son, Gregory L. Baker of Champion, OH; his daughter, April R. (Scott) Pinion of Brookfield, OH; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2005, at 1:00p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, OH.
