Robert E. Lahner

Robert E. Lahner, age 82, of Wayne township,OH, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville,PA. He was born November 8, 1933, in Gustavus township, OH, a son of John L. and Fannie E. (Reynolds) Lahner. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Lahner was a graduate of Williamsfield School. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1957 and went on to serve in the Army Reserves for 5 years. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Wayne for many years; was employed at M & M Co. in Jamestown, PA; and the Wayne Feed Mill. He served on the Wayne township Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Mr. Lahner is survived by his wife, Thelma M. (Cleland) Lahner, whom he married September 22, 1956, of Wayne; two brothers, Howard K. Lahner of Warren, OH, and Andrew C. Lahner of Wayne township, OH; and three sisters, Dorothy A. Hiner of Lakeland, FL, Ila Mae Jones of Andover, OH, and Abbie L. Brown of Brunswick, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents; his two children, Darlene Sylvia Lahner and Jack Alan Lahner; four brothers, Walter E., John A., Donald E., and Harlan L. Lahner; and two sisters, Elizabeth L. Whitmore and Frieda A. Kempton. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 1:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH, with Rev. Bob and Rev. Lori Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery in Wayne township, OH. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
